The art of throwing spikes

In Takeda Ryu, Shurikenjutsu is very strongly combined to the swordsmanship which means that here, different from the ninjutsu practice, shuriken hardly have been used as a weapon in its own. It was mostly used to confuse the opponent or cause some injury in order to prepare a more efficient attack by sword. That is the reason why a lot of exercises are executed at short distance and in connection with sword actions.

The basic forms (kata) and techniques (waza) are related to kyudo; however Takeda Ryu Kobilza Ha teaches different methods of holding and throwing a shuriken.
